Why our mattresses are different

One mattress, done properly.

A showroom lines up ten models at ten prices and leaves you to work out which compromise you're buying. We'd rather build one specification we're willing to put a 10-year warranty behind, and price it honestly.

Designed in Sri Lanka. Manufactured to our specification by our specialist partner overseas, then quality‑checked before delivery. Backed by a 10-year warranty, provided by KIRA.

What to look for in a mattress in Sri Lanka

In our heat and humidity, a few things matter more than the showroom feel.

Breathability that's built in, not coated on. In a 28°C Colombo bedroom, a mattress that traps heat will wake you at 2am. Look for a breathable pocket-spring core that lets air move through the mattress all night, not a surface spray that fades after a few months.

Support zoned for your spine. A single-firmness slab dips under the heaviest part of you. A 5-zone pocket-spring core stays firmer under the hips and lower back and softer at the shoulders, so your spine rests in a neutral line.

A firmness you can live with for years. Soft in a showroom and right night after night aren't the same thing. Medium-firm suits most back and stomach sleepers; if you sleep on your side or love a deep sink-in feel, weigh that before you buy.

Value beyond the sticker price. Compare like for like: profile height, the number of spring zones, the cover fabric, and the warranty behind them. A well-built 30cm hybrid outsleeps and outlasts a thin foam mattress, year after year.

Mattress questions

The questions our customers ask most.

We launch with Queen (150×200cm) and King (180×200cm). Queen is the most popular for couples in standard Colombo bedrooms; King needs a generously sized room. Message us on WhatsApp with your room measurements and we'll help you choose.

Medium-firm, on the firmer side: about 7 on a 1–10 scale. Back and stomach sleepers will feel most at home. Side sleepers still get enough give at the shoulder from the zoned core and gel comfort layer, but if you prefer a plush, deep sink-in feel, the Sunrise will read as firm. Message us on WhatsApp if you'd like help choosing and we'll walk you through it.

Cooler than a solid foam mattress, yes: springs let air move through the core all night, where a foam block holds your body heat against you. The cover feels cool when you first lie down, and what you notice through the night is less of that 2am stickiness, fewer pillow flips. No mattress blows cold air (be wary of any that promises it). If you want the whole room working with it, we've written a short guide on sheets, fans and airflow.

The cool-to-the-touch feel is a settling-in effect; every mattress reaches body temperature as you sleep. What lasts is the airflow: the spring core keeps moving air through the mattress, and that doesn't wear out, because it's how the mattress is built, not a coating.

Yes, as long as the slats are no more than 7cm apart. Wider gaps can shorten the life of the pocket springs. All Kira bed frames meet this spec.

Give it at least 30 nights. Pocket-spring beds need a brief break-in period while the foam comfort layers relax and your body adjusts to a new support profile. That's normal and consistent with global mattress industry guidance. If something feels wrong after that, message us on WhatsApp and we'll work through it with you.

The KIRA Sunrise is Rs 119,000 for Queen and Rs 129,000 for King: the everyday price, with no inflated RRP and no fake markdown. That buys a 30cm hotel profile (about 12 inches tall), hundreds of individual pocket springs in a 5-zone core, and a full 10-year warranty, not pro-rated.

In inch terms, yes: the Sunrise stands 30cm tall, which is about 12 inches, the height class most hotel beds use. Many mattresses in Sri Lanka are quoted in inches, so for a like-for-like comparison: a typical local foam mattress is 6 to 8 inches thick, and the Sunrise carries a 5-zone pocket-spring core plus comfort layers inside that extra height.

Memory foam contours closely and isolates movement, but on its own it can trap heat, which is a real problem in our climate. Pocket springs breathe and support, but alone they can feel firm and bouncy. A hybrid combines both: the KIRA Sunrise pairs gel memory foam comfort layers with a 5-zone pocket-spring core, so you get the contouring and the airflow together. For Sri Lankan heat, that hybrid build is the reason it doesn't trap warmth the way a solid foam block does.

The 5-zone pocket-spring core is firmer under the hips and lower back and softer at the shoulders, so your spine rests in a neutral line instead of sagging or arching. Many back and stomach sleepers find that supportive. We describe the geometry, not medicine: if you have a specific back condition, please check with your doctor or physiotherapist about firmness before buying, and message us on WhatsApp for the full specs.

For two sleepers, four things matter most: pocket springs that isolate movement (one of you can get up at five without the other finding out), a reinforced perimeter so the person near the edge gets the full width of the bed, a medium-firm zoned core that splits the firmness difference honestly, and the right size for the room. The Sunrise is built around all four, in Queen and King. We've written a full guide for couples if you're weighing it up together.

Yes: the KIRA Sunrise is sold online through our retail partner BuyMe.lk, with free delivery across Colombo and the whole island. The mattress arrives compressed and rolled in a box; you unroll it on your frame, and it's ready to sleep on that night, taking its full shape over the next two days. We've written a guide to buying a mattress online, and if you'd rather ask first, message us on WhatsApp and we'll help you choose your size.
